Just How Much Is That Stellar View Worth?

Homes with a good view fetch a premium, particularly among city dwellers. But how much more are they willing to pay for a home with a good view? Realtor.com®’s research team compared the prices of homes for sale on its site that highlight sought-after views and then compared those homes to similar-sized properties in adjacent ZIP codes that don’t make any special note of a great view. (Note: Many of the homes with the best views are in luxury buildings that also offer locations convenient to top attractions.) Some of the most famous views that are commanding the highest premiums, according to realtor.com®’s research team, are: 1. Manhattan, N.Y.: Central Park
  • Median list price for homes with views: $3,795,000
  • View premium: 39.9%
2. San Francisco, Calif.: Golden Gate Bridge
  • Median list price for homes with views: $2,450,000
  • View premium: 33.1%
3. Miami Beach, Fla.: South Beach
  • Median list price for homes with views: $944,000
  • View premium: 103.4%
4. Chicago, Ill.: Lake Michigan
  • Median list price for homes with views: $525,000
  • View premium: 96.8%
5. Las Vegas, Nev.: The Strip
  • Median list price for homes with views: $425,000
  • View premium: 210%
