REALTORS: 5 Nasty Business Habits to Give Up in 2017

Vow to make 2017 your best year yet in the real estate business. But that means giving up some bad habits that may stand in your way of obtaining ultimate success. Entrepreneur recently highlighted several of the following “bad habits” that could be hindering your business: Having a sense of entitlement. The world doesn’t owe you anything. “If you want success, you need to make it happen,” the article notes. If you want a flood of new clients, you need to get work prospecting and upping your lead generation. To generate more buzz, reach out to publications with real estate-related content that you can be an expert commentator on or conduct more seminars to spread your name in the community. Set priorities and look to fill in gaps where needed to keep your business booming. Learn lessons from other successful people in the business and use it to carve out your own path and niche. Being unprepared. Don’t ever go into a listing presentation unprepared. Or, rush to offer up answers to customers’ questions when you’re guessing. Your reputation is on the line. “No matter how confident you are that you know your stuff, prepare for everything,” the article notes. Complain. You have a tough job that requires a lot of hours and finessing your way through lots of personality types. But by complaining, you’ll be turning off others who may have wanted to work with you but prefer a more optimistic personality. Plus, when you turn into Debbie Downer, you’ll “be so focused on the negative that you won’t appreciate what you do have,” the article at Entrepreneur.com notes. “If something isn’t right, fix it.
